Quick tip: don’t use hashtags in your title tags, because they won’t show up in the search results.

This applies if you use something like “#1 Local Experts” in the title tag. In search results, it will be “1 Local Experts”.

I suspect Google systems automatically strip out the “pound” symbol to prevent people from using hashtags, or trying to use them, in search results.

Google search results do not work like Instagram, TikTok, Facebook or YouTube. You cannot add hashtags to the title tag to get more traffic. My guess is this is why they automatically do this.

Be aware if any of your page titles, H1s, or title tags use something like “We’re number #1” or “#1 in Our Industry” or anything else using a “number” or “hashtag” symbol.
